Should we reupholster or buy new? Your choice of fabrics is much greater if you decide to reupholster and quite possibly, the furniture you already own is of better quality and craftsmanship. It can also be updated to meet new design trends.
Is there any advantage to buying fabric from an upholsterer? Yes…the fabrics are all of first quality and they have a wide variety to select from. Should your job require extra yardage or any damage occurs after the job has been completed, your upholsterer is usually able to obtain extra yardage for as long as 2 or 3 years later.
Is there any type of warranty of fabrics purchased from an upholsterer? Yes…Fabrics purchased from an upholsterer have a limited warranty against fabric manufacturing failures under normal wear conditions.
Are there any disadvantages to furnishing my own fabric? Yes…You lose all warranties unless your upholsterer furnishes the fabric. It is a proven fact that many jobs are put in jeopardy when additional fabric is needed for situations such as excessive flaws or matching or centering a pattern and none is available. These situations are often unknown at the time your upholsterer quoted the job. While we have no problem with customers furnishing their own material, we strongly encourage they purchase extra yardage to cover any unforeseen circumstances.
